Bob Dunn known for playing with Milt Brown & His Musical Brownies; his playing was intense, adventurous and swinging. His phrasing has been described as very "horn-like", and he was not afraid to launch into uncharted territory with wild glissandi and honking sounds. According to legend, Dunn was among the first steel players to go electric, by virtue of cannabalizing a phonograph & attaching the needle/pickup assembly to his guitar's top. He was also, allegedly, a legendary substance abuser - the story goes that if you were going to hire Bob for a gig you should hire two steel players for the night because Bob would be too drunk to continue past the 1st half of the evening- but boy would that first set be great!! |
