I AM ZumBody!

I've collected some pictures of guitars manufactured by
Mr. Bruce Zumsteg under his brand name "ZumSteel."
These are undeniably some of the finest modern Pedal Steels ever manufactured, and some are quite striking in appearance.
These pictures have been contributed by the guitar's current owners
who LOVE THEIR Zums!

I guess I'll start off with mine:
Dave Van Allen's 1998 ZumSteel U-12 Loafer:

"From the window up above..."

"a family picnic..."

Ad Kersten's:

"Ad at his ZumSteel"

"by the fireplace..."

Bill Simmons's 1979:

"A Beautiful Blonde!!"

CrowBear Schmidt's:

"Am I Blue?"
CrowBear comments:
"my Zum is a 1981 model previously owned
and made for Mike Smith (Miguel E Smith)"

Dave Dogget's 1996:

"A top view..."

"Upskirt..."

Doug Earnest's Keyless:

"tuner"
Doug Comments:"I worked with Bruce for a few years,
these are the guitars we built for me.
The keyless was made in June 2002,
serial number 5602. The supported changer
and keyless tuner were entirely
handmade in the Zum shop.
The top is made of mahogany
as a tonal experiment."

Doug Earnest's "Zum 2000":

"Front..."

"...nice pickup, Doug!"

Gary Lee Gimble's 2003:

"Very Organized Executive Workstation"

John Parker's "Mid '70's?":

"In his Playroom"

Leroy Sawyer's:

"Red is the color..."

"of my true love's formica..."
Here is my SD-10 Zum that Bruce said
" was sent to a dealer in
Mississippi late in 1995".
I bought it from a gentleman in
October 2003 who said he obtained
it from Crazy Horse Music in
Norwich, NY How it got from
Miss To NY I don't have a clue.

Mike Castleberry's 2000:

"Angle:red on red..."

"Upskirt..."

Mike Weirauch's 2001:

and Single coil on C6th."

Roar Oien's:

"...To Norway!"
Roar comments: "I visited Nashvile January 1999,
and bought my Zum from Mr. John LeMay,"
it was previously owned by Mr. Bruce Bouton I think."

Ron Moore's 2002:

"Another lovely two-tone"

"The Tony Rankin Collection":

Finally! Some more Black ones!
Billy Woo's 1991 Zumsteel U-12

Love your thread and I'm a stone cold Zumsteel fan.

John De Maille's 2003 U12:

Here are some pictures of my Zum.
It is a S-12 Universal.
I recieved it, brand new from Bruce,
in June of 2003.
It is truly a great steel, and a new
adventure for me in playing
with the universal tuning.

Ben Slaughter's 1986 D10:

Ben Comments:" I am at least the fourth owner of this guitar that I know of.
There is some history to this guitar, some funny stuff
from Bobbe Seymour, check the link.

Mediocre photos, fantastic steel!"

Morton Kellas' 2006:

" Here are a few pics of my Hybrid Zum SD-10 30th aniversary model
